WINTHROP HIGH SCHOOL
Winthrop, MA

This project includes the assessment, study and design of accessibility improvements for the separate High School and Middle School. The primary focus of the study phase of the project was to define the scope of renovations required to meet “Program Access” as required by the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Since it is not economically feasible to renovate all spaces to fully comply with the MAAB (Massachusetts Architectural Access Board) regulations, it was essential to carefully define the precise renovations required to meet the legal and ethical requirements. Through carefully planning, the project has avoided renovations of several areas originally proposed by the Transition Plan.

The study and schematic design of this project will be presented by Gienapp Design at the Town meeting to obtain funding for the project
