Our office has designed a new Great Room addition for this existing home. The house is owned and occupied by an elderly man and his disabled daughter (who is deaf and confined to a wheelchair). The addition features include an elevator and extensive landscaping and raised planting beds, usable from a wheelchair. Through creative design, the many accessible features are blended into the character of the home and do not appear as handicapped elements.
The Great Room is designed as a four-season porch, including a fireplace, greenhouse window and classic bead board wainscoting. Renovations to the house include a new accessible Bedroom and Master Bath.
