The Brockton Trial
Court is a new building of 13 courtrooms to serve the District Court,
Probate and Family Court, Juvenile Court and Housing Court. This courthouse
is the first in Massachusetts to be constructed in the new ‘design
by function’ organization implemented by the Division of Capital
Asset Management (DCAM). For this project, Dale Gienapp worked with DCAM
to develop complete narratives and graphics to establish the planning
and design criteria for this Design/Build project. The RFP included detailed
design layouts and technical criteria for each space within the building
as well as the planning requirements for the site. The extensively detailed
program and planning documents developed for this RFP were used by DCAM
as the basis for subsequent courthouse studies.
