DANVERS POLICE STATION
Danvers, MA

For the Danvers Police Station, Gienapp Design performed a Space Needs Assessment and Schematic Design Study. Since the station was constructed in 1972 there has been a dramatic increase in the Town’s population and the number of police staff has essentially doubled. In addition, continuing increase in technology and safety procedures has changed the needs of the department.

Our services including evaluating the current space needs, and design options to a) improve space use efficiency and b) provide a layout that better responds to today’s operational procedures. One of the key elements of the design was to create a new “customer service” counter. The counter provides the opportunity for staff greet the public and streamline process of providing copies of reports (the most frequent request of visitors to the station).

The design includes renovation of the lobby, a new officers entrance, patrolmen’s report room, and more staff workstations. The project includes renovation of an unfinished attic into an officers fitness area.
