This project for the
Division of Capital Asset Management is to develop a Master Plan for the
Trial Courts throughout Norfolk County, Massachusetts. The study includes
the Superior Court, Probate and Family Court, District Court (5 jurisdictions),
Juvenile Court (3 jurisdictions) and the Norfolk Law Library.
The project includes
caseload and staffing projections, existing building assessments, programming,
evaluation of master plan options (for new and renovated facilities) and
conceptual design of the recommended option. Twenty years of trial court
caseloads were analyzed to develop projected caseloads, and determine
the anticipated needs for judges and court staff through the year 2025.
Gienapp Design also performed an on-site evaluation of each of the 9 court
facilities and the Law Library.
Through an analysis of the existing conditions compared to the projected needs, an array of planning options were developed for comparative evaluation.
As part of the planning process, Gienapp Design has met with the administrative office of each Court, and is initiating planning sessions with the communities under consideration for new and renovated facilities. Planning and design services for new and renovated facilities. Planning and design services include schematic design of the court facility determined to be Phase 1 of the recommended option.
