LYNNFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY
Lynnfield, MA

Our office designed a two-story addition for the Lynnfield Public Library to expand the library from 17,000 to 22,000 square feet. The addition was designed to seamlessly blend with the existing building, one of the most prominent structures in the historic town center.

The addition expands the Adult area, creates a new Young Adult area and provides a 50% increase for the Children's area. The project includes renovation of the original 1890's schoolhouse as a Program Room, to reuse this historical building to a public meeting space. A new "Lynnfield Room" is created to house the extensive Genealogy collection, centralize Lynnfield publications and provide an additional meeting space and quiet area.

As the first comprehensive planning for the library since the 1968 addition, the design reorganizes the collection to address contemporary library needs such as online access and the emphasis on popular materials.
